Emily Maye is a commercial director and photographer who splits time between Brooklyn and Santa Barbara. Raised in Santa Barbara and trained in ballet before studying screenwriting, she moved into photography while developing a cycling film and built a practice treating stills and motion as continuous storytelling. Her commercial work centers on sports and athletic culture. She is a long-standing Tracksmith collaborator, directing brand films including “Running is a Gift,” “No Days Off,” and “The Year of the Amateur,” plus the brand’s first broadcast commercial, “The Last Interval”—a one-take interval series with Malcolm Gladwell voiceover that aired during the U.S. Track & Field Olympic Trials on NBC. For Nike and Wieden+Kennedy she directed the 2019 Boston Marathon broadcast spot “Miles,” featuring Joan Benoit Samuelson, and the Kobe-related “That’s Mamba.” Other credits include Adidas (“Chop Wood, Carry Water,” “Celebrate the 90s”), Dick’s Sporting Goods (“There She Is”), Tylenol (“Greatness Hurts”), Decathlon (“Rewrite Your Story”), Scotiabank x PWHL (“It’s Her Time”), Lexus “Life in the League” with Reggie Jackson, Dickies, Muscle Milk, Instacart, and Rapha. Trade profiles describe a docu-hearted action-sports approach focused on training and human struggle rather than finish-line spectacle. No major advertising-award wins for her directed spots were documented.
