Bio & background

Toon Aerts is a Belgian commercial director working with CZAR across Belgium, the Netherlands, France, and Germany, and by Holy Fools in the Netherlands. A graduate of Sint Lukas film school in Brussels (2001), Aerts won the Young Directors Award in 2002 and earned Silver and Bronze CyberLions at Cannes in 2005 for his ASICS 'Gel Komodo' viral film. His short film 'Perfect Drug' (2012) won the Méliès D'argent at Amsterdam Fantastic Film Festival and the Grand Prize at Brussels International Film Festival. Aerts' commercial work spans telecom (Mobistar, YOUFONE), insurance (P&V, Assuralia, ARAG Nederland), CPG (Dr. Oetker, Soubry, Head & Shoulders, Smint), automotive (Opel), retail (Media Markt), and lottery brands (Lotto, Win For Life). He has directed campaigns for Belgian public transport (De Lijn), military recruitment (Defensie), and sports broadcaster Sporza featuring the Belgian Red Devils. Known for quirky, absurd humor and strong visual style, Aerts also directs music videos for Black Box Revelation, The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, and others. Beyond directing, he works as a set photographer on features and UK television series including 'Patience' (Channel 4) and 'Professor T' (ITV).
