Tomi Dieguez is an Argentine commercial director and animator working in hybrid live-action and animation. Diesel’s “Assland” placed him in Saatchi & Saatchi’s New Directors Showcase in 2011; he joined 1stAveMachine in 2012. He founded animation studio Punga—called one of the most innovative animation studios worldwide by Motionographer in 2009—and production company Tronco in 2014, and is Partner and Director of 1stAveMachine BA (opened 2020). Evidenced advertiser work includes Meta’s “Are We There Yet” series, LEGO Dots and Cube ’Em, Sonos, Toyota Camry spots Come Together, Break Free, and Every Part Has Been Transformed, Benjamin Moore, Tillamook, Target, LATAM, Home Depot, ATMA, Uber, Motorola, WE’s Lemon Ice campaign (Friendski, Astronaut, Banana), Coca-Cola, and Diesel. Motorola “Chute” (Droga5 NY, 2014) staged a practical real-time freefall of the phone through symbolic dioramas with no post-production. He created the Gluko & Lennon pilot that became Amazon’s Little Big Awesome (2018); the pilot won a 2017 Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Individual in Animation, with further Emmy and Annie Award nominations.
