Tom Hooper is an Academy Award-winning British director who brings feature-film craft to commercials through Smuggler. After winning the Best Director Oscar for The King's Speech and an Emmy for John Adams, Hooper established a distinctive advertising practice centered on emotionally resonant long-form storytelling. He received Ad Age's Director of the Year Award in 2023 for work including a Chevrolet holiday tearjerker, an award-winning Vanish film, and a Montefiore healthcare spot. Hooper directed Jaguar's first-ever Super Bowl commercial featuring Sir Ben Kingsley, Tom Hiddleston, and Mark Strong with an Alexandre Desplat score recorded at Abbey Road Studios. His holiday work spans The National Lottery (3.5-minute Christmas film), McDonald's (90-second Alternative Christmas List), Lidl (6-minute campaign across 30 countries), and Rogers (nearly 3-minute Canadian debut). Recent projects include VisitBritain's blockbuster-inspired screen tourism campaign (Clio 2025 shortlist), a 3-minute Samsung Galaxy film celebrating friendship, and a Santander spot with Brian Cox. He consistently collaborates with editor Russell Icke, VFX house Framestore, audio post facility 750mph, and cinematographers Steve Annis and Alex Barber.
