Self-taught filmmakers who started at a movie trailer company in the 1990s, they broke through with the surf film Thicker Than Water (2000, Surfer Magazine Movie of the Year) before directing over 40 music videos for Blink-182, Metallica, Foo Fighters, The White Stripes, and Vampire Weekend, earning MVPA Director of the Year nominations in 2004 and 2006. Their documentary work includes a Grammy-winning Big Easy Express (2012) on Mumford & Sons and Netflix's Biggie: I Got a Story to Tell (2021). In commercials, they've helmed campaigns for Nike (including "The Huddle," which earned a 2015 DGA nomination), the NBA's "Arena Playoffs" and "This Is Why We Play" series, EA Sports' "Thanks, Coach" tribute to John Madden, and recent Super Bowl spots for Grubhub and Squarespace. Known for a fast, collaborative two-director workflow and cinéma-vérité approach that brings "intimacy and authenticity" to branded work, they shoot real athletes and subjects with documentary-inflected energy. working with Superprime Films since 2009, they continue to balance high-stakes sports advertising with long-form storytelling.
