The Blaze is a French directing duo consisting of cousins Jonathan Alric and Guillaume Alric. They launched as electronic music producers before breaking into filmmaking in 2016 with their self-directed music video "Virile" via Bromance Records, which won Best Alternative Pop Video at the UK Video Music Awards and accumulated over 2.5 million views on YouTube. Their follow-up "Territory" won the Film Craft Grand Prix at the 2017 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, with jury president Robert Galluzzo praising its vulnerability, poetry, and superb casting and cinematography by Benoit Soler. The duo was featured in Saatchi & Saatchi's 27th New Directors' Showcase at Cannes 2017. In commercial work, The Blaze has directed campaigns for Dior Homme, Chloé, Macmillan, and Enfant Sauvage. Their work is characterized by emotionally driven narratives exploring themes of human connection, change, and courage. They continue balancing careers as both musicians and filmmakers, writing, producing, and directing their own content while taking select commercial projects. They are working with Iconoclast in the U.S. and Newland TV in Stockholm and Copenhagen.
