Terence Neale is a South African director based in Cape Town who has established himself as one of commercial advertising's most distinctive voices. He first gained international attention directing music videos for Die Antwoord and Skrillex's "Ragga Bomb," which amassed over 100 million views. In 2017, Neale became the first and only South African director to win a Cannes Lions Grand Prix in Entertainment for Music with adidas Originals "Original Is Never Finished," featuring Snoop Dogg, Stormzy, James Harden, and Kendall Jenner. The campaign also won Effie Global Gold, Clio Sport Grand Prix, multiple One Show Gold Pencils, and became one of YouTube's 10 most-watched commercials of 2017. His commercial work spans major brands including Nike, Apple, Facebook, BMW, PlayStation, Beats by Dre, and LinkedIn, for whom he directed the first-ever LinkedIn Premium campaign in 2024. Neale has earned AICP Awards for cinematography and D&AD recognition for his Zalando work. He collaborates with top agencies including Johannes Leonardo, Goodby Silverstein & Partners, and Wieden + Kennedy. Known for his dark, dystopian aesthetic combined with emotive storytelling and subversive approach to youth culture, Neale represents previously overlooked communities while maintaining versatility across genres from surreal comedy to performance-driven narratives.
