Tajana Tokyo is a Sierra Leonean British director working with Somesuch in the UK and US, known for movement-driven filmmaking rooted in her professional dance career with Beyoncé (Formation Tour, Beychella) and Janelle Monáe (Dirty Computer Tour). She applies dance principles to light, camera, and editing, creating visceral, immersive films. Her 2021 short "Back Beat" premiered on NOWNESS and spotlighted Black professional dancers; "Salone Love" premiered at Sundance 2024; "Ninth Life" premiered at the American Black Film Festival. She co-directed Apple Music's Super Bowl 2023 spot "Run This Town" with Kim Gehrig (shortlisted at the 1.4 Awards, contributing to Gehrig's DGA Award).
