Similar But Different is the New York–based directing duo of Dani Girdwood and Charlotte Fassler, represented in the US by division7 and in the UK/EU by SMUGGLER. Commercial credits include Diesel’s “Enjoy Before Returning,” which took a Cannes Lions Titanium plus three Gold, one Silver, and two Bronze; Nestlé Extrême Ice Cream’s “An Extrême Night In,” which flips a girls’-sleepover ice-cream trope into an action movie; Spotify’s colour-saturated Harry Styles film “Only You: Harry”; McDonald’s McCrispy with Maya Jama; Xfinity’s “Summer Song,” played during the Olympics Opening Ceremony; and work for Google, Etsy, CVS, Ally Bank, NewYork-Presbyterian, Fuji Instax, Land O’Lakes, and Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment. In 2021 they were named the third most awarded directing duo at Cannes Lions and placed on Campaign Magazine’s Top 10 Directors list. Recognition also includes British Arrows, Ciclope, AICP Next Awards, the ANDYs, Tribeca, and Free the Work’s 2024 Super Bowl directors shortlist. Music-video roots inform cheeky, music-driven storytelling that pairs bold colour and composition with authentic performances. They directed Amazon Prime Video’s My Fault: London and 2025 sequel Your Fault: London—YA romance-thrillers built on underground racing, car stunts, and volume-stage work—and are developing a feature with TriStar.
