Savanah Leaf is a BAFTA-winning British-American director working with Park Pictures in the US and UK. A former 2012 Olympic volleyball player for Great Britain and 2014 Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year at the University of Miami, Leaf transitioned from professional athletics to filmmaking after an injury ended her sports career. She holds a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Miami and a Master's in Drama from Central Saint Martins. Her feature debut "Earth Mama" (A24, Film4) premiered at Sundance 2023, earning her the BAFTA Award for Outstanding Debut, the Douglas Hickox Award at the British Independent Film Awards, and the San Francisco International Film Festival Audience Award. In commercials, Leaf has directed campaigns for Nike, Adidas, NFL, Dove, Beats, Zalando, Vaseline, VRBO, and Tena. Her 2025 NFL Super Bowl spot "Somebody" won a Sports Emmy Award for Outstanding Public Service Content. She directed Gary Clark Jr.'s Grammy-nominated music video "This Land" and has created work for Common, Jorja Smith, Kelsey Lu, and a posthumous Marvin Gaye video for Universal Music's "Never Made" series. Her documentary short "The Heart Still Hums" (co-directed with Taylor Russell) won best documentary awards at Palm Springs ShortFest, BlackStar, and Nashville Film Festival. Leaf has also created installation films "run" and "run 002" (featuring Willem Dafoe) exhibited at SFMOMA, Crystal Bridges Museum, and Hauser & Wirth Gallery. A DGA member since 2018, she brings a collaborative, psychology-informed approach and a commitment to authenticity to all her projects.
