Sara Dunlop is a London-based writer-director who began directing commercials around 1997 after a Film degree at the University of Westminster and a Creativity Magazine Top 25 Directors to Watch nod. Reel brands include Nike, Apple, Levi’s, Sky, Vodafone, Dove, McDonald’s, Heinz, Starling Bank, Ulta Beauty, Bose and Eli Lilly. Defining spots include Sky’s awards-winning ‘Billboards,’ shot in outdoor-ad-banned São Paulo around Gene Wilder’s ‘Pure Imagination,’ and Transport for London’s 2015 road-safety film ‘The Tortoise and The Hare,’ mixing urban realism, modern dance and sinister bespoke masks. Cause work is central: The Havens crisis-centre films earned British Arrows Craft Awards including Best Director and a Lion for interactive ‘Where Is Your Line?’; Women’s Aid ‘He’s Coming Home’ (2023) took a Cannes Gold Lion, D&AD Wooden Pencil and British Arrows. Fashion credits include the co-written Mr. Burberry GQ monologue series with Sophie Turner and HTC’s ‘Freefall’ sky-dive fashion shoot. Comedy includes Virgin Trains ‘Sis,’ MoreThan and Vodafone ‘The Wait.’ She wrote/directed the short Dreamlands (2016), the only UK short in Cannes competition that year, and directed Channel 4’s six-part drama Dreamers (2025). She is a The Corner Shop director; Curtis Brown handles longer form.
