Bio & background

Samantha MacAdam is a Toronto-based Guyanese-Canadian writer-director with over two decades of industry experience, beginning her career as a film editor before transitioning into directing for television, film, and commercials. Named by Playback as "One to Watch" in 2021, MacAdam has built a reputation for sharp comedy and psychological thriller work grounded in emotional authenticity and cinematic pacing honed during her 20-year editing career. She directed an episode of CTV and Crave's comedy series "Shelved" from showrunner Anthony Q. Farrell (The Office), produced by Colin Brunton (Schitt's Creek), and four record-breaking episodes of the long-running Canadian series "This Hour Has 22 Minutes." Her romantic comedy TV movie "Fashionably in Love" for Reel One Entertainment and CityTV earned a Canadian Screen Award nomination for Best Direction in a TV Movie. She recently directed "Savvy Sheldon," a Harlequin book adaptation starring Amber Riley (Glee), produced by Neshama Entertainment, Bell Media, Centinel, The CW Network, and Fox Studios. Her commercial work includes the CBC Juno Awards campaign starring Simu Liu, earning two PROMAX Award nominations for Best Director and Best in Live Events. MacAdam's directorial debut short "Prom Night" became a top-five finalist in Kevin Hart's LOL Eat My Shorts Showcase (out of 650 submissions), winning Audience Favorite, and the Director's Cut won the 2025 Stage 32 Short Film Program, opening the Oscar-qualifying HollyShorts Film Festival at the TCL Chinese Theatre. She is working with Revolver Films (US/CA) and Noble Content for commercials.
