Ruganzu "Riggs" Howard is a comedy director working with Epoch Films (US, UK) and Skin & Bones (Canada). Before directing, he spent years agency-side as an executive producer at BBDO, TBWA/Chiat/Day, Barton F. Graf, and Translation, producing campaigns for State Farm, Little Caesars, Mtn Dew, Bacardi, Nissan, NBA, TD Bank, Mayo Clinic, BMW, and Kaiser Permanente. Prior to advertising, Howard served as a Baltimore City Police detective working violent crimes, hostage negotiation, and as department spokesperson. He transitioned to directing through mentorship with Epoch director Matt Swanson, shadowing sets and stepping in to direct campaign portions before signing with Epoch in 2022. His first solo directing job was for Benjamin Moore with FIG. Howard has since directed comedy spots for Little Caesars, Zelle, Airheads, Simply Spiked, Value City Furniture, Allstate, Wendy's, Applebee's, Therabody, and Old Spice. He earned five Bronze awards at The One Show in 2018 for the Zelle Family campaign. His comedy approach finds absurdity in relatable human moments, drawing on influences from Roy Andersson to Larry David, with communication skills honed through hostage negotiation now applied to directing actors.
