Bio & background

Ron Brodie is a New York–based commercial director represented in the US by 1stAveMachine, which he rejoined as a roster director in October 2020 after serving as the company’s Head of Creative Development from 2010 to 2012. A Howard University Film and Television BFA graduate (2006), he entered advertising through lighting direction at DC’s 9:30 Club and New York commercial edit suites, an editorial foundation that still shapes his resourceful, cut-driven approach. Evidenced brand work includes Red Stripe, Disney, Facebook, Credit Karma, MTV, Airwalk, Google, and Aflac, plus an opening segment for ABC’s Ball Boys. Parallel credits anchor his profile: the short JUMPMAN (Vimeo Experimental and Narrative features; Bowery and Picture Farm selections), a Vimeo Staff Pick music video for Bob Marley’s “No Woman No Cry,” and the travel docuseries Driver Radio: Jamaica (with brother Don Brodie), developed for Independent Lens, aired on PBS, screened at the Micheaux Film Festival in 2021, and selected for MoMA Creative Labs in 2025. Trade coverage frames his commercial aim as pairing high production value with personal, heartfelt storytelling drawn from bicultural Jamaican-American experience.
