Bio & background

Raine Allen-Miller is a British director born in Manchester (1989) and raised in South London from age 12. She broke into directing in 2016 with the music video 'Storm' for Salute, a post-Brexit celebration of immigration that earned her inclusion on It's Nice That's 'Ones to Watch 2017.' Her first commercial, for ASOS in 2017, won Campaign magazine's 'Pick of the Week.' Allen-Miller's 2018 short film 'Jerk,' depicting an elderly Jamaican man from the Windrush generation battling depression, premiered at BFI London Film Festival and led to her feature debut, 'Rye Lane' (2023), a South London-set romantic comedy funded by BBC Film and BFI, distributed by Searchlight Pictures. 'Rye Lane' premiered at Sundance, earning BAFTA nominations for Outstanding British Film and Best Director, plus multiple BIFA and London Critics' Circle Award nominations. Allen-Miller's commercial work spans Nike Japan ('Unperfect Dreams'), Virgin Media O2 ('Walrus Whizzer,' winning British Arrows Craft Gold for VFX and a Bronze Cannes Lion), Pepsi ('Fizz to Life' featuring Lionel Messi and Paul Pogba), Secret ('I'd Rather Get Paid,' a gender pay gap musical), Make My Money Matter ('Oblivia Coalmine' starring Olivia Colman, 1.4 Awards Gold), TurboTax, Squarespace, Spotify, Three, HBO, RSPCA, and Tesco. She was named to Campaign's Top 10 Directors (2019), Screen International's Stars of Tomorrow (2021), Adweek's Creative 100 (2023), and is a BAFTA Breakthrough 2023 honoree. She is currently in post-production on her second feature, 'The Roots Manoeuvre,' a London heist comedy. working with MJZ (US/UK), Somesuch (UK), and Casarotto Ramsay (film/TV).
