Nick Knight CBE is a British fashion photographer and filmmaker who founded SHOWstudio.com in 2000 as a platform for process-driven fashion film and live image-making. After studying photography at Bournemouth and Poole College of Art and Design and publishing the book Skinhead, early i-D commissions led to Yohji Yamamoto’s 1986 catalog with Marc Ascoli and Peter Saville, plus multiple subsequent seasons. He developed long-running Christian Dior campaigns with John Galliano, shot Jil Sander advertising (including a 1992 Tatjana Patitz image that later set auction records), and produced brand work for Calvin Klein, Yves Saint Laurent, Levi’s, Topshop, Diesel, Kilgour, Alyx, Lane Crawford, Swarovski, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, and the Royal Opera House. In 2021 he created photography and an advertisement for Dom Pérignon’s “The Queendom” campaign with Lady Gaga. Fashion films include Kilgour, Diesel Venice, Topshop Newgen, Lane Crawford SS15, and Alyx A/W 15; directed music projects include Björk’s “Pagan Poetry,” Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way,” Kanye West’s “Bound 2” and “Black Skinhead,” and the 2019 IMAX short Jesus Is King. Prettybird represents him in the US and UK. Honours include the 2015 Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator, an OBE, and a 2023 CBE.
