Bio & background

Morten Tyldum is a Norwegian director who has built a career spanning Nordic commercial production, Hollywood features, and prestige television. He co-founded Einar Film in 1995 and directed commercials throughout the 1990s and early 2000s for Volkswagen, Statoil, Stratos chocolate, Tine yoghurt, and DnB bank, working frequently with Oslo agency TRY/APT. His feature debut Buddy (2003) won the Amanda Award for Best Norwegian Film, followed by Nordic noir entry Fallen Angels (2008), which earned him the Amanda Award for Best Director. International breakthrough came with thriller Headhunters (2011), adapted from Jo Nesbø's novel, which sold 557,000 tickets in Norway, premiered at Toronto International Film Festival, and earned a BAFTA nomination. His Hollywood debut The Imitation Game (2014) garnered eight Academy Award nominations including Best Director, making Tyldum the first Norwegian filmmaker nominated in that category. He followed with science fiction romance Passengers (2016), a $110 million Sony production featuring over 1,100 VFX shots that grossed $303 million worldwide. Since 2016, Tyldum has focused on premium television, directing pilots for Counterpart (Starz) and Jack Ryan (Amazon), all eight episodes of Defending Jacob (Apple TV+), and the first three episodes of Silo (Apple TV+). In 2019, he partnered with Anonymous Content and producer Guri Neby to launch Anonymous Content Nordic. He is working with Riff Raff Films for commercials and Casarotto for film/television.
