Mikey Alfred is a Los Angeles-based commercial director and filmmaker who founded skate and clothing brand Illegal Civilization at age 12. Raised in North Hollywood, he began filming friends’ skate tricks early, premiering Spark of Life at 12, and at 15 toured as documentarian with Tyler, the Creator. Mentored by producer Robert Evans, he co-produced Jonah Hill’s Mid90s (casting Illegal Civ skaters) and directed the 2021 feature North Hollywood—a coming-of-age skate film produced with Pharrell Williams, starring Ryder McLaughlin, Vince Vaughn, and Miranda Cosgrove plus pro-skater cameos—that scored 78% on Rotten Tomatoes. working with Prettybird (US/UK), his commercial work includes Adidas Leaving Marks, Facebook’s The Dispute trailer, a Vogue fashion video, and Fader’s Summer of ’17 Episode 2. Alfred’s spots use handheld energy, real skaters, and Valley locations, combining action-sports realism with fashion-lifestyle and music-driven storytelling rooted in authentic skate culture rather than stylized approximation.
