Melissa Silverman is a New York– and Los Angeles–based commercial and TV director who began in MTV’s On-Air Promos department, conceptualizing, writing, and directing campaigns with Madonna, Conan O’Brien, Britney Spears, Donald Trump, and the Foo Fighters, and casting a then-unknown teenage Jennifer Lawrence in a My Super Sweet 16 promo. She later directed same-day field pieces for Jimmy Kimmel Live! and moved into commercials and branded comedy. Evidenced spots include Panera Bread’s Funny or Die breakfast piece, I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter with Fabio, Breyers/Breyers Gelato, Snickers Hi Protein’s “Tastebud Training,” Maybelline x The Bachelorette, AdColor, United Way, Yandex, Cooking Channel Mo Rocca family-recipe films (which she co-wrote), an Italian-language KFC spot shot in Moscow, a Nick Jr. campaign that earned an Emmy nomination, and earlier Slim-era work for McDonald’s, Revlon, Starz/DIRECTV, Disney, and Tuborg Beer. In April 2026 she directed the National Kidney Foundation’s LIVING DONOR! PSA campaign (“Cafe,” “BBQ”) through Tessa Films, casting real living donors. Roster materials cite Art Directors Club, D&AD, PromaxBDA, RESfest, Telly Awards, and the Nick Jr. Emmy nomination.
