Megan Brotherton is a Los Angeles- and Seattle-linked writer-director signed for US commercials by Thinking Machine in February 2025. She earned an MFA in Acting from Harvard’s A.R.T. Institute, including a Moscow Art Theatre residency, and developed comedy at UCB Theatre LA and Funny or Die, directing sketches such as “Going to the Bathroom in a Romper.” Narrative shorts include Buttercup, viral comedy Everybody Does It, Roku Channel’s Pickled, and Hangman (Best Director and Best Narrative Short). Commercial entry came via a 2017 Women in Film LA mentorship that produced the Access Books PSA, which won a Bronze Telly and Platinum Best of Show Aurora Award. A 2023 CDDP fellowship under Hungry Man EP Caleb Dewart led to Thinking Machine. She has directed comedy for Oikos (“Stealing”), Oreo, NERDS, Horizon Organic, Microsoft (“The Concert”), Nintendo with Nickelodeon (“Mario for Every Mood”), Zipfizz, Minnesota Lottery (“Back to the Funture”), North Carolina Education Lottery (“Bonus Chances”), Whole Moon (“Straight Up Good”), and a Maybelline x SNL 50 package featuring Vanessa Bayer and Cecily Strong, plus Maybelline and CeraVe Love Island spots. Roster bios also credit Kohl’s and Walmart. She was shortlisted at Shots for New Director of the Year.
