Bio & background

Maxi Blanco is a Madrid-based commercial director represented globally by Landia (LATAM, US, EU) and in Italy by Puro Management. A graphic designer by training and a musician since childhood, Blanco began his career in 2001 as a flame artist and visual effects designer at Metrovision in Argentina, working alongside the country's most prominent directors and agencies for six years. In 2005 he directed the Borges adaptation short film Infamia, which earned international festival recognition and marked his transition into directing. After more than a decade in London, he relocated to Madrid in recent years. Blanco has won two Cannes Lions—for Coca-Cola's Security Cams and Axe's Young and Mature—along with recognition at El Ojo de Iberoamérica, Clio Health, and Malaga Festival. His commercial work spans Corona, Volkswagen, Lipton, Magnum, Porsche, McDonald's, Old Spice, Sprite, Coca-Cola, Axe, Quilmes, Fernet Branca, and others. His 2026 Old Spice campaign Unbelievably Cool, filmed in Mexico with agency Burns, was cited as a Cannes 2026 contender. Blanco's directing style synthesizes striking visuals with emotionally resonant storytelling, whether narrative-driven character pieces or entertainment-focused visual essays. Despite his VFX background, he resists over-reliance on effects, emphasizing story and collaboration at every stage of pre-production.
