Mathery is the Italian directing duo of Erika Zorzi and Matteo Sangalli. They met while studying product design at NABA in Milan, began collaborating on experimental object-making, and have worked as a unit ever since across film, photography, spatial design, and installation. Based between Milan and Brooklyn, they are known commercially for surreal, color-saturated worlds that flip everyday situations into ironic comedy through strong production design, wardrobe, and practical craft. On the 1stAveMachine US roster they have directed spots for Bath & Body Works, Samsung, Delta x American Express, GoPuff, Orbitz, A101, Deloitte, and Ruggable; Immigrant Studio covers UK, Benelux, and Scandinavia with IKEA, Klarna, Facebook, and further Samsung and GoPuff work. Case studies include Orbitz’s 2019 “Just Like That” deadpan dialogue comedy for Havas, IKEA family physical-trick shorts, Deloitte’s “Only See Possible” perspective-illusion film built with harness work and a roughly 12-meter arch, and Ruggable’s 2022 “Take the Floor” brand film for Red Antler. They won ADC Young Guns 16; personal films have premiered on Nowness, opened OFFF, screened at Chelsea Film Festival, and placed Top 10 at the Runway AI Film Festival. Zorzi leads research and storytelling; Sangalli handles photography, lighting, and process mechanics.
