Liz Murphy is an Australian commercial director based in Sydney and represented globally by the Sweetshop. She began her career in Australia, earning inclusion in the CFP-E/Shots Young Director Awards at Cannes in 2005 with her first-ever commercial, a stop-motion RAC insurance film that won awards worldwide. In 2010, Murphy relocated to London to focus on emotive observational storytelling and narrative work, directing campaigns for McDonald's, Volkswagen, American Express, Kinder, Alpen, and The National Trust with top-tier agencies including AMV BBDO, BBH, Fallon, Jung von Matt, and DDB. Her 2014 spot "Bear" for charity Grief Encounter featured in the prestigious APA show. Campaign magazine named her one of "10 Female Directors You Should Know" in 2017, praising her "amazing eye" and ability to elicit "stunning, emotional glimpses of life." Recent work includes a global Singapore Airlines "World Class" campaign shot over 30 days across five countries, and spots for Rewe, Persil, Macquarie University, Michael Hill, and Tylenol. Murphy has won awards from ADC, Axis, BADC, Adfest, and YDA, and participated in D&AD's Cinematography Category in 2020.
