Bio & background

Lacey Duke is a Toronto-born, US-based director whose commercial and long-form work grew out of music video and festival shorts. Her MV credits include Janelle Monáe’s “I Like That,” H.E.R. (including work with Bryson Tiller that drew a 2019 NAACP Best Music Video nomination), Summer Walker’s “Body,” the Summer Walker / SZA / Cardi B track “No Love,” Skip Marley projects with H.E.R., Rick Ross and Ari Lennox, The Internet’s “Girl,” and earlier clips for Big Baby D.R.A.M., Esperanza Spalding and Bosco. In 2019 she received the Prism Prize Special Achievement award for contribution to music-video art. Brand credits include written and directed spots for CoverGirl, Pantene and Coca-Cola; Samsung’s Galaxy Note9 “Made It” film starring Issa Rae; and an AICP-nominated Netflix Strong Black Lead campaign featuring Ava DuVernay, Lena Waithe and Spike Lee. That same year Ava DuVernay selected her for season four of OWN’s Queen Sugar, her U.S. scripted television directing debut. She is working with Prettybird in the US and UK after an earlier Kode Media signing in 2017.
