Kristin Dehnert is a Los Angeles-based comedy director known for performance-driven spots with celebrities, athletes, and sharp comedic casts. A Chicago native and University of Illinois speech-communication alum (1991), she entered the industry as a location scout and manager on studio features with directors including Nora Ephron, Robert Zemeckis, and Nicholas Stoller before shifting into writing and directing. She first drew national attention writing and directing Doritos’ “Check Out Girl,” a finalist in the brand’s inaugural Crash the Super Bowl contest that aired during the Super Bowl, earned coverage from Ad Age, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, NPR, and SHOTS, and later appeared on CBS’s Super Bowl’s Greatest Commercials. Her short thriller Underground screened at more than 60 festivals and took the BAFTA Award of Excellence at SXSW plus top honors at Hamptons, Santa Barbara, and Aspen Shortsfest. Commercial work includes Uber, Liberty Mutual (MUSE Gold-winning “Bibberty Baby”), ESPN and Synchrony Bank, Credit Karma, Wells Fargo, Bic with Willie Nelson, Snoop Dogg, and Martha Stewart, Viasat (“Piggybackers”), ampm, Advil, Michaels, Breeze Airways’ debut broadcast campaign, Degree, New Jersey Lottery (Telly Gold “Aftermath”), and Emmert Motors. She has directed Mindy Kaling, Busy Philipps, Sophia Bush, Zoe Kazan, Marcus Spears, Candace Parker, and Alyssa Naeher. Awards also include MM&M Silver, Summit Creative Gold and Silver for humor, and an LIA Dialogue Direction finalist nod. She joined Station Film’s U.S. roster in March 2025.
