Kay Kienzler is a Berlin-based commercial director specializing in character-led humour and precise human storytelling for automotive and QSR/CPG campaigns across Germany, Switzerland, Austria and international markets. Raised in Frankfurt, he worked as a post-production runner on King Kong at Weta Digital, trained at Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, attended the 2011 Hollywood Workshop at UCLA, and graduated in 2013 with a diploma in commercial directing. In May 2023 he directed Volkswagen Touareg ‘Laundromat’ for DDB Voltage Berlin and Film Deluxe, framing Park Assist Pro as a laundromat problem/solution story; Shots cited its cinematography, casting and score. In February 2026 he delivered McDonald’s Germany’s four-film ‘All das’ platform with Scholz & Friends and Abelone Films (DP Mario Krause)—Happy Meal, McSmart, Bonus and Big Mac spots whose light humour surfaces through timing and small reactions in shared apartments, restaurants and family homes.
