Julien Vallée is a Montreal-based director and visual artist who works solo and as one half of Vallée Duhamel with Eve Duhamel. Rooted in graphic design and stop-motion, they met in 2008 and established the studio in 2013, later moving to external production-company representation for larger commercials while remaining a two-person unit. Trade coverage frames their practice as visually driven storytelling that twists reality through unexpected points of view, meticulous art direction, and a poetic design sensibility. Early work favored tangible in-camera solutions—built rigs, wire and fishing-line cinema tricks, handmade object craft—later integrated with high-end post, animation, and live-action-plus-AI workflows. Brand credits include Apple, Samsung, Google (Android Wearable and Maps-adjacent work), Coach, Target, Hermès, Coca-Cola, Reebok, Lacoste, Nintendo, Nokia, Firefox, AXA, MTV, Swatch, AOL, The New York Times, and Koodo Mobile’s 2015 “Choose Happy” campaign. Awards include a 2017 Cannes Lions Bronze for AXA, the 2018 SXSW Audience Award for Excellence in Title Design (Strangers), D&AD craft, Grafika Grand Prix Video, Adweek Watch Best Animation Production, and Communication Arts motion-graphics honors. Spy Films signed him for exclusive Canadian representation in January 2026; Psyop added the duo to its U.S. roster in 2021 after Partizan. He is a DGA member.
