Bio & background

Jonathan Glazer is a British director based at Academy Films in London since 1993, where he has created some of advertising's most awarded and influential work. He directed Guinness "Surfer" (1999), voted the best commercial of all time by Channel 4 and The Sunday Times and winner of two D&AD Black Pencils. His commercial roster includes Levi's "Odyssey" (Cannes Gold Lion), Stella Artois "Ice Skating Priests" (BTAA Best Crafted Commercial 2005), Sony BRAVIA "Paint" (requiring 10 days and 250 people to film in Glasgow), Android "Monotune" (Grammy-winning), and Apple Watch "Flight." He has directed for Nike, Volkswagen, Audi, Canon, Prada, Gucci, Alexander McQueen, and Channel 4. Glazer's radical visual style uses omniscient perspective, dramatic music, and meticulous craft—deploying 20 cameras for VW Polo's tango choreography and collaborating closely with skydiver Inka Tiitto on Apple Watch tracking shots. His four features include "Sexy Beast" (2000, BIFA Best Director), "Under the Skin" (2013, two BAFTA nominations), and "The Zone of Interest" (2023), which won two Academy Awards including Best International Feature, three BAFTAs, the Cannes Grand Prix, and the César for Best Foreign Film.
