Jon Watts is an American filmmaker who directed Marvel's Spider-Man trilogy—Homecoming (2017), Far From Home (2019), and No Way Home (2021)—establishing him as a major force in tentpole filmmaking. A graduate of NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, Watts began his career directing music videos for Fatboy Slim, Death Cab for Cutie, and Swedish House Mafia, alongside extensive commercial work at Park Pictures for brands including ESPN, Sprite, MetLife, Hyundai, Nokia, and Sprint. His feature debut Clown (2014), produced by Eli Roth, originated from a fake trailer he created. Cop Car (2015), a thriller starring Kevin Bacon, premiered at Sundance and earned a National Board of Review top-10 independent films honor. After exiting Marvel's Fantastic Four due to exhaustion from pandemic-era No Way Home production, Watts directed Wolfs (2024) for Apple TV+ and created Disney+'s Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, earning a Children's and Family Emmy. He runs production company Freshman Year with wife Dianne McGunigle under a first-look deal with Walt Disney Studios.
