Bio & background

Jon & Torey are a directing duo—Jon Weiman and Torey Kohara—working with Furlined in the US and frequently producing through OPC. Active since at least 2012, they specialize in emotionally grounded storytelling built on authentic casting and naturalism. Their work spans automotive, QSR, fuel, alcohol, finance, and CPG categories. For Petro Canada's "Special Delivery" (McCann Toronto), they shot a 110-second trucker story on 16mm across Alberta, casting real trucker Mike Dosanjh and capturing dialogue from an actual mother-daughter conversation during casting. For Subaru Canada's Ascent campaign (Zulu Alpha Kilo), they directed a 90-second spot featuring a farm girl and her pet pig traveling to the city, working with a live pig trained for four weeks and shot over two days in Vancouver—the campaign delivered "overwhelmingly positive" response and "strong sales results." Additional clients include McDonald's (a 2012 documentary-style piece for Tribal DDB), Tim Hortons, Bud Light Canada ("Long Weekend" for Anomaly/OPC), Nike (KD19), Mass Mutual (72and Sunny), Lyft (Zulu Alpha Kilo), Michelin, Canadian Beef Bacon Company, Co-operators, and Comcast. Their approach emphasizes organic discovery—on Petro Canada, "many shots were discovered organically by driving alongside Mike during the day"—and they consistently leverage real locations, real people, and minimal scripting to preserve authenticity.
