Jon M. Chu is a director known for visually stunning, emotionally resonant blockbusters including Crazy Rich Asians, which earned over $175 million domestically and became the highest-grossing romantic comedy in a decade, and the two-part Wicked adaptation, which collectively became the highest-grossing Broadway musical film ever with over $756 million worldwide. His feature work spans Step Up 2: The Streets, Step Up 3D, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Now You See Me 2, and In the Heights. Chu pioneered digital storytelling with The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers web series and directed record-breaking Justin Bieber concert films. A USC School of Cinematic Arts graduate discovered by Steven Spielberg, Chu won the Princess Grace Award, Jack Nicholson Directing Award, and Dore Schary Award as a student. His films have earned over $1.3 billion worldwide.
