Johan Kramer is a Dutch commercial director and filmmaker based in the Netherlands. Co-founder of Amsterdam agency KesselsKramer (1996, with Erik Kessels), he transitioned in the mid-2000s to full-time directing. His debut feature documentary The Other Final (2003), about a match between the world's lowest-ranked national soccer teams Bhutan and Montserrat, collected festival awards at Toronto, Berlin, and Barcelona and was named the Netherlands' Best Sports Documentary of All Time. Later films include Sing for Darfur (2008; Best European Dramatic Feature, European Independent Film Festival), Johan Primero (2011), Tribeca short Bye Bye Super 8, and Keeper (2019), which premiered at the Netherlands Film Festival. He directs documentary-style brand films for Hyundai Motor Group (The Call, profiling designer Peter Schreyer), Volkswagen (ID. Buzz), Škoda (Shot at Home miniature SUV series), Citizen (Wieden+Kennedy's Better starts now), Swisscom, Adidas, Fox Sports, Telenet, Albert Heijn, Pearle Opticians, Dar-Vida, NS, Eneco, and the Dutch Government. Recent pieces include an AI-assisted archival short for FC Hyena Cinema and a 35mm tribute to The Happy Reader. Kramer is represented in the US by Chelsea Pictures, in the Netherlands by Holy Fools, and on Trigger Happy Productions' Berlin roster.
