Jesse Peretz is an Emmy-nominated director whose career spans feature films, television, commercials, and music videos. A founding member of The Lemonheads, Peretz transitioned to directing in the 1990s, winning a Grammy Award for Best Music Video for Foo Fighters' "Learn to Fly" (1999). His commercial work includes campaigns for Nike, IKEA, Sony PlayStation, Philips Norelco, O2, and Cree Bulbs. In features, he directed "Our Idiot Brother" (2011) starring Paul Rudd, which premiered at Sundance, and "Juliet, Naked" (2018), a Nick Hornby adaptation produced by Judd Apatow. Peretz built a prolific television career directing 18 episodes of HBO's "Girls" (also serving as producer), 10 episodes of "Nurse Jackie," and episodes of "GLOW," "New Girl," "Orange Is the New Black," and "Divorce." His FX limited series "Love Story" (2026) received six Emmy nominations including Best Limited Series, with Peretz among the directing nominees. Known for character-driven comedy with emotional authenticity, he currently directs the NBC drama pilot "Puzzled" and is working with Arts & Sciences in the US.
