Bio & background

Jay Roach is an American filmmaker who directed the Austin Powers trilogy beginning with International Man of Mystery (1997), the Meet the Parents and Meet the Fockers comedies, Dinner for Schmucks, and political satire The Campaign, then biographical dramas Trumbo and Bombshell. For television he directed HBO political films Recount, Game Change, and All the Way, earning four Primetime Emmy Awards—Outstanding Directing for a Limited Series/Movie and Outstanding Television Movie for both Recount (2008) and Game Change (2012)—plus DGA Awards for Recount and Game Change, and a Golden Globe and Peabody for Game Change. Through PRETTYBIRD he has directed brand work including Verizon’s “Menace Mobile: Dr. Evil Returns” and related Simplicity plan creative, reuniting the Dr. Evil character comedy from his Austin Powers films. His commercial work draws on comedy-performance and dialogue-driven storytelling and extensive experience directing A-list talent such as Mike Myers, Robert De Niro, Ben Stiller, Charlize Theron, and Margot Robbie.
