Bio & background

Jason Reitman is a Canadian-American writer-director (born Montreal, 1977) whose features include Thank You for Smoking, Juno, Up in the Air, Young Adult, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and Saturday Night. Son of director Ivan Reitman, he spent his twenties on shorts and commercials rather than early studio offers. Documented brand work includes Walmart’s “12 Minutes” spot and 2007 holiday campaign (Bernstein-Rein), plus commercials for Burger King, Nintendo, BMW, Buick, and Apple’s “Saving Simon – Shot on iPhone 13 Pro” (2021). He directed The Office episodes “Local Ad” and “Frame Toby,” an SNL film segment, and Quibi’s Home Movie: The Princess Bride, and produces via Hard C Productions, Right of Way Films, and Reitman/Kenan Productions (Sony overall deal). His commercial and narrative work centers on sharp dialogue and character-driven comedy-drama. He holds four Oscar nominations (two for Best Director), a Golden Globe and BAFTA for the Up in the Air screenplay, a Grammy for the Juno soundtrack, and an Independent Spirit Award for Thank You for Smoking. Commercial representation is listed with Bob Industries (US).
