Hans Emanuel is a Los Angeles-born director of Mexican and German heritage whose multicultural upbringing across Europe, North America, and Mexico informs his fluid, genre-blending approach to commercial filmmaking. After beginning his career in fashion design at Virgin Records in London and directing music videos, Hans transitioned to advertising in the early 2000s following his first short film's premiere at the Berlinale Film Festival. His breakthrough came with an OPI nail-polish campaign featuring a tap-dancing horse, which earned him a Bronze Cannes Lion, multiple Gold Clio Awards, and a Cristal Festival prize. Known for movement-driven storytelling, seamless VFX integration, and compelling performance direction, Hans has built a client roster spanning automotive (BMW, Audi, Seat, Renault, Nissan, Kia, Subaru), beauty (L'Oreal, Nivea, Garnier), travel (United Airlines, Madrid Tourism, Western Australia Tourism), pharma (Invega), and consumer brands (Lego, Burger King, T-Mobile). His U.S. Navy recruitment campaign aired during the 2023 Super Bowl with approximately $1.8 million in media spend. Hans has cultivated repeat business with BMW, Seat, Nivea, Audi, and the U.S. Navy, working across Europe, Russia, the Middle East, the Americas, and Asia. He currently directs from Barcelona and is working with Caviar (U.S.), ANIMALS (Canada), Rebolución (Latin America), and radicalmedia (U.K.).
