GRANDMAS are a Manchester-based directing duo working with Academy Films for commercials and Salt Partnership for film and television. They first gained recognition with their BIFA-longlisted dark comedy short 'Norteños,' which won audience awards at Encounters and Aesthetica, screened at Slamdance and Clermont-Ferrand, and was featured in the Cannes New Creators Showcase 2022 before being licensed to Canal+ and developed into a series with NBC Universal and the BBC. Their commercial work earned three British Arrows in 2024 for a controversial Channel 4 Climate spot. They have directed campaigns for McDonald's McCrispy, Beats featuring Cole Palmer, Motorway via Uncommon, and Sekonda in the UK, and have expanded into the US market with Buddig via Havas Chicago and Del Real Foods' 'Abuela Intelligence' via TDA_Boulder. Drawing from post-industrial North West England—its social clubs, seaside towns, and colorful characters—they bring an unorthodox perspective and morbid humor to character-driven storytelling. Their work spans commercials, music videos for Pearl City (UKMVA-nominated), Hurts, Meduza, and Larkins, and narrative development including two features with Film4/Academy and Pulse Films.
