Garrett Bradley is a New York–born, New Orleans–based filmmaker and artist repped for commercials by Prettybird (US and Europe). Her brand work includes Prada’s Introducing Prada Fall/Winter 2024 film and Gucci Bloom, alongside The New York Times Op-Docs short Alone. She trained at Smith College (BA, 2007) and UCLA (MFA, 2012). Breakthrough nonfiction credits include Alone (2017), which took the Sundance Short Form Jury Award in nonfiction, and the feature Time (2020), which won the U.S. Documentary Directing Award at Sundance—making her the first Black woman to receive that prize—earned a Peabody, and received an Academy Award nomination for Best Documentary Feature. She directed the Netflix mini-series Naomi Osaka, an episode of Queen Sugar, and second-unit work on When They See Us, and built the installation America (2019) pairing archival Lime Kiln Club Field Day footage with new 35mm vignettes. Recognition includes a 2025 MacArthur Fellowship, the 2023 Eye Art & Film Prize, and exhibitions at MoMA, Tate Modern, and Eye Filmmuseum. Her commercial approach is intimate, archival-aware, and observational.
