Gandja Monteiro is a Brazilian-American director of film, television, and commercials, raised between New York’s Lower East Side and Rio de Janeiro. She trained at LaGuardia High School of Performing Arts, earned a film degree at NYU Tisch, graduated from AFI’s Directing Workshop for Women, and joined Fox’s TV Directors Lab and Universal’s Feature Directors Program. Commercial clients include Nike, Adidas, Google, Coca-Cola, AT&T, Chevrolet, Smirnoff, and Mastercard. In 2024 she directed and produced “The Trial” for All* In Action Fund (Klick Health/Taking Over), a dialogue-led short restaging Salem-style prosecution around abortion access that earned a Clio Awards 2026 shortlist and New York Festivals Health finalist. Episodic credits include Netflix’s Wednesday, Marvel/Disney+’s Agatha All Along including the finale, Netflix’s The Witcher (Henry Cavill’s final season), Brand New Cherry Flavor, Showtime’s The Chi as producing director including a season finale, AMC’s The Walking Dead: Dead City, and Hulu’s Paradise. Her short “Almost Every Day” played Tribeca and Palm Springs and was shortlisted for the Academy Awards. She signed with Chelsea Pictures for US and UK representation in 2022, following Gloria Content, Hungry Man, Zola Films, and Prodigo Films.
