Floria Sigismondi is an Italian-Canadian director, photographer, and visual artist whose hyper-surreal, Gothic aesthetic has defined music videos and luxury brand campaigns for over three decades. Born in Pescara, Italy in 1973, she studied photography at the Ontario College of Art before launching her career with Marilyn Manson's "The Beautiful People" (1996). She has directed 90+ music videos for artists including David Bowie, Justin Timberlake, Rihanna, Katy Perry, and Sam Smith, winning the 2013 MTV VMA for Video of the Year ("Mirrors") and the 2004 JUNO Award for Video of the Year ("Fighter"). Her commercial work includes award-winning campaigns for Meta ("Good Ideas Deserve to Be Found"), multiple Gucci collaborations with Alessandro Michele, and Spotify's viral 2024 Wrapped campaign featuring Taylor Swift. She directed feature films "The Runaways" (2010, Sundance premiere) and "The Turning" (2020), plus episodes of "The Handmaid's Tale" and "American Gods." Her published photography monographs "Redemption" (1999, German Kodak Photobook Award) and "Immune" (2005) have been exhibited alongside Cindy Sherman and Joel-Peter Witkin. She received the 2024 UK Music Video Awards Icon Award.
