Fiona Jane Burgess is a UK-based director known for cinematic, emotionally resonant commercials and music videos that blend lived-in realism with heightened visual storytelling. A former lead singer of the band Woman's Hour and drama facilitator in an adolescent psychiatric unit, she began directing at 28 with 10-month-old twins. Her commercial work includes Mercedes-Benz's "Be One of Many" (shot on 35mm, D&AD and AICP awards, 2023 Cannes Lions Film Craft shortlist), Lindex's "Underwear for Life" (British Arrows, AICP recognition), and Gucci's "The Awakening" featuring Florence Welch (Bronze CICLOPE). Her Tommee Tippee campaign "The Boob Life" won Gold for Direction at the 2021 SHOTS Awards, Branded Content of the Year and the Chair's Award at The Drum Magazine, and the 2021 Berlin Commercial award. She received a Silver Young Director Award at Cannes Lions in 2019 and was named Campaign's Pick of the Week for her debut commercial with Mother London. Her music videos include Christina Aguilera's "Beautiful" 20th anniversary reimagining (Webby, British Arrow awards), The Last Dinner Party's "The Scythe," and Wolf Alice's "The Sofa." She has directed campaigns for Calvin Klein, Burberry, Max Mara, Lacoste x Zalando, The North Face x Gucci, and DNB. Represented globally by SMUGGLER, she is an advocate for working mothers in the creative industries and draws on influences from choreographers Trisha Brown, Pina Bausch, and Wayne McGregor.
