Em Cole is a London-based director, photographer and interactive artist whose commercials combine soft aesthetics, optical illusions, camera tricks and hyperreal production design with satirical and tech-forward storytelling. Self-taught after a Textile Design degree at Chelsea College of Art and an MA in Information Experience Design at the Royal College of Art, she moved from stills and trend-forecasting into short-form social-native film, teaching herself set-building, shooting, editing, rotoscoping and CGI. In March 2020 she signed with 1stAveMachine for US and UK commercial representation. Credits include Instagram’s global #InstaGiftGuide—six vertical films staging hashtags such as #CatsOfInstagram, #FingerBoarding and #OddlySatisfying, featured on Good Morning America—spots and editorials for Italian sportswear brand Lotto (Bags, HulaHoop, Pizza, Laundry), Mercari’s Closet, a WAH Nails campaign, a Facebook Women’s History Month film, and the Woodland Trust “Plant More Trees” campaign film produced with 1stAveMachine. Earlier work includes the live-action/animated AR short “I’m Your Venus” and the jelly-centric Bompas & Parr film “Sloppy Seconds.” SHOTS, LBB and AdAge coverage frames her practical-effects and surface-versus-reality approach for vertical and social formats.
