Bio & background

Edgar Wright is an English filmmaker whose commercial credits include Nike’s “Choose Go” (2018), Squarespace’s “Everything to Shell Anything” (2022), and McDonald’s “Fancy a McDonald’s?” (2023). He established a visual-comedy language on Channel 4’s Spaced (1999–2001) with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, then directed the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy—Shaun of the Dead (2004), Hot Fuzz (2007), and The World’s End (2013)—plus Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010) and the music-synced getaway film Baby Driver (2017). Later work includes the Sparks documentary The Sparks Brothers and horror Last Night in Soho (both 2021), with the Stephen King adaptation The Running Man (2025). His process treats popular music as a structural scaffold, fitting action and narrative to song duration through heavy storyboarding; recurring techniques include Steadicam tracks, dolly zooms, whip pans, wipes, and rhythmic transitions. Awards include the British Independent Film Award for Best Screenplay and Bram Stoker Screenplay Award (Shaun of the Dead), Empire Award Best Director (Scott Pilgrim), and the Oglethorpe Award (Baby Driver). He is rostered at Anonymous Content in the US and co-founded Complete Fiction.
