Douglas Bernardt is a Brazilian director and cinematographer represented globally by Stink Films, based between London and São Paulo. He won the Grand Prix at Cannes Lions 2019 for 'Bluesman,' an eight-minute short film for Baco Exu Do Blues addressing institutional racism in Brazil, developed with AKQA SP and Coala Lab. His work spans music videos for Megan Thee Stallion, Gregory Porter, Tom Misch, and Yussef Dayes; commercials for North Face, Fiat, Samsung, George at ASDA, Bridgestone MEA, and Ubisoft; and dance films including 'Inside The Blind Iris' (2023), a Sadler's Wells commission shot on black-and-white 16mm with choreographer Botis Seva. Trained in cinematography at New York's School of Visual Arts, Bernardt brings technical precision to socially conscious storytelling, countering visual stereotypes of Brazilian culture while exploring themes of identity, community, and empowerment. His 'Revival' video for Gregory Porter featured seamless VFX of a shape-shifting protagonist against the 1992 LA Riots. After relocating to London in 2023, he has expanded into the British jazz scene and live performance direction. Multiple Vimeo Staff Picks recognize his visually striking, narrative-driven approach informed by German Expressionism and Buñuel.
