Derek Schklar is a multidisciplinary filmmaker, photographer, and music producer from Atlanta, Georgia, currently working with Somesuch in the US and UK. He began his career in Atlanta's music scene managing local rappers including Pill and Trouble while releasing music as "The Devil." His directorial breakthrough came with the 40-minute biographical crime film *Edgewood* (2018), which he wrote, directed, and executive produced for Freenjoy in association with Ear Drummer Films. Shot by cinematographer Marcell Rév, HSC, the film depicts the true story of rapper Trouble's 2008 arrest and was filmed on location at the actual Edgewood Court Apartments. Schklar's work is characterized by a gritty, documentary-style aesthetic rooted in Atlanta street culture. His music video portfolio includes "Bring It Back" for Trouble and Drake, "Something Wicked" for hardcore band Trash Talk (nominated for Best Rock Video at the 2021 UKMVAs), and "Love Is A Punk" for Louisahhh. He served as creative director on Mike WiLL Made-It's "High3r" featuring Lil Yachty and Lil Wayne. His commercial work includes an apocalyptic campaign for skate brand Babylon.
