David M. Helman is a California-based director of commercials, music videos, and short films. His commercial work spans Nike ("Bodega Cat" featuring Saquon Barkley, "Just Do It x Lebron"), Jordan ("Unite"), PUMA ("Faster Delivery" with Usain Bolt, XO x The Weeknd collaboration), Adidas ("Being Green"), New Balance x Casablanca ("Coco"), Kaiser Permanente ("Bounce Back"), and Havana Club Rum ("Havana Made Me"). The PUMA "Faster Delivery" campaign earned a 2016 Cannes Lions Cyber award and four Hatch Gold awards. In music videos, he has directed work for Vince Staples ("Lift Me Up," a Vimeo Staff Pick featuring anti-gravity wire rigs and the Sparrow Head 360-degree camera system), The Weeknd, Zayn Malik, Travis Scott, Joey Bada$$, James Vincent McMorrow (three videos), Michael Kiwanuka, American Football featuring Miya Folick, and IDLES ("Gift Horse"). His short film "Naysayer" (2019) starring Steven Yeun screened at Miami International Film Festival, Ashland International Film Festival, Cinequest, and Tokyo Short Shorts. He collaborates with cinematographers Dustin Lane, Joel Honeywell, and Hayden Mason. Helman is working with Iconoclast for commercials (US, UK, Germany, Mexico), UTA for film/television, and Hart/Mouthpiece for music videos.
