At 32, he became the youngest director ever to win the Oscar for Best Director for La La Land (2016), which earned 14 Academy Award nominations and won six, including Best Director and Best Actress for Emma Stone. His feature work includes Whiplash (2014), which earned five Oscar nominations including Best Adapted Screenplay for Chazelle and won three including Best Supporting Actor for J.K. Simmons, First Man (2018), which won the Oscar for Best Visual Effects, and Babylon (2022). Across all films, he has directed projects earning 26 Academy Award nominations with 10 wins.
