Christopher Hill is a Melbourne-based Australian commercial director whose advertising centres on comedy and performance-driven storytelling. He took second prize in the Cannes Young Director Award web-film category in 2012 for a talking-toads piece later tied to Ford’s Cane Toad Road. Early credits include Lynx, Emporium Melbourne’s 2014 time-travel mirror campaign via Exit Films/JOY, Cadbury, Toshiba, KFC, Doritos and ALDI. Music videos for Cut Copy—including “Free Your Mind” with Alexander Skarsgård—Midnight Juggernauts, Jet and Architecture in Helsinki informed a commercial practice built on absurdist humour and polished craft. OTTO Empire signed him in 2017 and AIRBAG Australia in 2019, expanding food, CPG and retail work. Recent spots include multiple BWS comedies, Specsavers Library, Dettol, RAC Insurance, bpost’s Gnomes and Merman, Carl’s Jr, Xero, Carro, McDonald’s, and the 2025 El Arquero tequila hero launch. He directed Auckland Transport’s How the West Moves. Recognition spans Cannes Lions, D&AD, SHOTS, Ciclope and a Berlin Fashion Film Festival nomination for The Dinner.
