Christian McKenzie and Patrick Chen are a London-based directing duo currently signed with Sweetshop globally. They met at the Bartlett School of Architecture at University College London, where their architectural training in spatial filmmaking continues to inform their work. They first gained recognition as part of Lynn Fox directing collective, winning Best New Director at the 2003 CADs. Their breakthrough work with Björk—including music videos for "Oceania," "Desired Constellation," and "Unravel"—earned D&AD Pencils and established their reputation for haunting, ethereal visuals. They also created concert visuals for her world tour (earning D&AD Silver awards) and her 2004 Olympic Games opening ceremony performance. In 2012, they reformed as Christian & Patrick and joined Park Pictures, successfully transitioning into commercials. Their campaigns for Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, Audi, Toyota, Thomas Cook, Dulux, Goodyear, Kraft, OnePlus, California Lottery, Department For Transport, Barclays, and British Army have earned recognition from Cannes Lions (including a Titanium for Axe "Crashes"), D&AD, British Arrows, Ciclope, and ADC. They joined Sweetshop in March 2021, where they continue creating richly cinematic, emotionally resonant work that emphasizes spatial storytelling and sound design.
