Carrie Brownstein is a Portland-based director, writer, and performer working with Prettybird (US/UK). Best known as cocreator and costar of the Emmy and Peabody Award–winning IFC series Portlandia and as a founding member of Sleater-Kinney, she has directed comedy television across HBO, HBO Max, NBC, Comedy Central, and Hulu, with credits including Shrill, Search Party, Mrs. Fletcher, A.P. Bio, Casual, Idiotsitter, MINX, Reboot, Loot, and Portlandia itself. On the brand side she directed Kenzo’s roughly six-minute short The Realest Real—a surreal piece on internet fandom and the gap between online address and real life, featuring Mahershala Ali and Natasha Lyonne—covered by Adweek as her directorial debut for the fashion house, plus Facebook’s We’re Not Just Staying Home. Her available commercial signature is comedy- and performance-led, extending sketch and half-hour dialogue comedy into fashion-lifestyle brand storytelling with celebrity casts.
